Go for the Gold

So, SL materials have been out for some time now and nearly every mesh creator I come across in my travels is experimenting with it. Some, I find, have misplaced the use of this new feature, using it with textures where the high-shine that materials generates are irrelevant. I mean, do we really need sunglasses to look at hair?

On the other hand, textures like leather, metals and gemstones really pick up the use of materials in a fascinating way. I just love playing around with natural lighting when I am wearing a materials enabled piece, especially this gorgeous peplum top (that also happens to be fitted mesh) from Liv-Glam and high-waisted leather shorts from Ricielli.

So, what do you guys think of SL materials? Is it over or under used and do you like the effects it gives off?
